This scripture has always perplexed me when Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father (John 14:8-14). Jesus responded by saying: "Have I been so long time with you, and yet you have not known me Philip?" What was Jesus saying to Philip? He was saying that you've been with me all this time, seen miracles, the sick healed, ate with me, lived with me, seen demons cast out, and witnessed my character…and you still don't realize that I and my Father are one? In this season, I believe that God is bringing all things in divine order to His will. He is moving us by His Spirit to come into alignment (positioning) and agreement (harmony) with His will for our lives, His church, and the world. God is a God of order. We must remember that the message of the Kingdom spread through persecution in the early church. The early church had gotten comfortable with Jerusalem as its headquarters and base, they had all things common, no need or lack among them, and they were content to stay right where they were. After all, they were teaching people about Jesus; people were getting saved, healed, and delivered; but one thing they lacked was fulfilling the full commission of Christ to the entire world...and not just the world they knew (Matthew 28). I'm reminded of Paul's words to the church at Philippi in Philippians 3:14, "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." We know that Paul's ultimate goal is to become so close to Jesus that he can empathize with what our savior felt in the process of going to Calvary. Have you ever wondered what was Peter and the other disciples doing that would attract the enemy's attention so much so that he would desire permission to sift them (Luke 22:31-33)? Well, I have. What does it mean to live with resolve? Well, living with resolve is the firm decision to stay on course, stay with one's own convictions, and refusal to compromise and conform to the status quo. Specifically, the word resolve is defined: 1. To come to a definite decision about. 2. To solve or settle as a problem. 3. To make up one's mind; firm fitness or purpose (The Random House Dictionary). Jesus lived his life with resolve. He was completely sold out to the will of the Father determining never to exercise his own will independently of the Father's for his own judgment or acts; rather he lived a life of humbleness to God which reinforced his commitment to the Father's will (John 5:30). The Bible speaks of a WOMAN coming and anointing Jesus with spikenard. For years people argued that it was the same woman that did both anointings, but the Word of God clearly lets us know that there were two women - one is identified as Mary in the book of John and the other is identified as a SINNER!
