Do You Understand Your Partner? Written by Anthony Small Proverbs 4:7 says Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom: and with all your getting get understanding. Do you understand your partner? Do you seek to realize why they do what they do, why they say the things they say, or why they act the way they act? It only takes one wrong or negative thought; one misunderstanding, or one time to see something that really isn't there and the relationship can fall apart right before your very eyes. However, when you have the principal thing of wisdom, it will make you evaluate a situation before you act on it. Our minds can by tricky and on account of this, things and can sometimes run away with us. Once this happens, we start thinking all kinds of thoughts about the person that may not be true. Wisdom and understanding of your partner and the situation at hand will keep these negative thoughts from going any further and nip them right in the bud. Just like back in school, the teacher always told you that if there is something and you don't understand, ask questions. So let me ask you this: when was the last time you asked questions to your partner to better understand them? Let's talk about understanding for a minute. Most women, for example, after finishing an argument with her male companion desire to be left alone, maybe for a good three hours or more. As opposed to a man on the other hand, typically right after the same argument wants to be close to her, talk to her, and wants everything to be back to normal. Now when you understand a woman, you will realize that women are emotional and they process things differently than men. Women want to think things over from all angles. Instead of getting upset, men should understand that God made women to be processors. If he can understand that and allow her to process and not cause any more stress for her during the heat of the moment and just let her go through what she needs to go through, when she's finished that process, she will then come back to you. Do you see how understanding your partner can help reduce unnecessary problems in your relationship? So if there are things that you don't understand about your partner, start asking questions, get the correct answers first from them (not your own thoughts), then you can proceed with handling whatever situation you are going through with them and with the help of God's wisdom.
