Speaking the Truth to Change A Nation

If all of God's preachers are declaring His truth without fear, favor or fanaticism why is there so much compromise among the believers. Somehow, some preachers and teachers have shifted from representing and obeying God to representing and protecting themselves. How can we intently preach about Jonah but omit the Jonah likeness that draws us away from our mission? How can we wag a finger at David and his fall in sexual sin, yet we provide platforms and places for our carnal nature to prevail and we speak not a mumbling word? Find out the answers inside...
Speaking the Truth to Change A Nation

by Dr. Geraldine H. McInnis

"Do you promise to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?" has been a question asked of millions throughout our court systems.  Without a moment of hesitation, the response is "I do."

If each witness or subpoenaed individual declares that truth will be spoken out of their mouths why is our nation declining and drowning in so much deception, falsified information and lies. If everybody is full of honesty and truth why do we have so many conflicting reports and opposing factors?

Let's take it a little further.

During one of my recent morning prayers, I was reflecting on our nation and the unchallenged exploits that have manifested themselves among all levels of people. Then my attention was quickly drawn to the household of faith and how the same dishonest acts are taking place under the pews and behind the pulpits without shame. We will look each other in the eye and say "God said..." and you really did not hear from God.  But, it was a good sounding lie that caused people to dance to your altars tossing offerings on it instead of casting themselves on that same altar as an offering. Even the purpose of the altar has shifted and lost its true meaning within the past ten years.

The Lord began to allow me to see the condition of the young and new believers who are desperately looking for a way out. They are turning to an older and settled group who has lost their zeal and become mute, maimed and muzzled regarding "present truth."

We do not want the truth of God's Word to become watered down, stretched, and half told. I was told by a man of God that a partial truth is no truth at all...it is still a lie. Many of our new and growing Christians will be able to move into the supernatural flow of God if preachers and spiritual leaders were not concern about popularity issues and political rightness when it comes to speaking the Word of truth.

The Bible tells us to speak the truth in love. It also instructs us to season our words with grace. But, it does not tell us to speak words that tickle the ear and quiver the liver. While the ear and the liver are being blessed the neck and the heart are becoming hard, stiff and callous. Let's save our nation by being a disciplined example of truth-bearers.

I dream of a nation of men and women, boys and girls who are declaring and proclaiming truth!  Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.  His way will bring forth truth to our lives. Older women train up the younger ones and instruct them how to live godly, honest and chaste. Seasoned men teach the younger men without provocation on how to honor God, the family, the Church the Kingdom of God and our country without compromise. We have marks to make and work to complete before we cross over into 2009. Let's start by being truthful.

Now, Lord may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight in Jesus Name. Amen.  Until next month, preaching women, remember to make a difference in your lives, homes, ministries and houses of God by "speaking the truth in love."
