Mattie Newman is a woman of God who loves Jesus, people, and life.  Although she has been singing for most of her life, she has been privileged to become a gospel music recording artist.  Her 2001 debut release entitled, "Mattie Newman:  Lord I Just Want To Thank You" and 2005 Live recording, "Stand Up" is blessing the lives of listeners as Mother Newman sings traditional songs of Zion with an authentic Holy Ghost fire.  Mother Newman is blessed to travel throughout this nation as a preacher and foot-stomping psalmist.

At the ripe young age of six, Mattie, with traditional southern roots, began ministering in song at the Harmony Elizabeth Presbyterian Church in Alcolu, South Carolina.  Mattie could not stop singing and grew to be an anointed praise and worship leader and soloist.  Today, Mattie Mattie's evangelistic call is not only to minister in song, but also to teach the Word of God.  Forty-one years ago, she married the Bishop Leroy C. E. Newman II, PhD, her pastor, husband and friend.  Together, they serve as senior pastors to the Friendly Church of the Apostolic Faith in New York. 

Mattie is also a principal teacher at the Friendly church where she is also a missionary, Sunday school teacher, and Director of the Friendly Church Adult Choir.  She has been honored as an outstanding First Lady by the local New York gospel 1190 radio program, and the Gospel Music Workshop of America.  Because of her longevity as a Bishop's wife, pastor, mother of three sons, evangelist, and woman who worked full time for most of her life, God has made Mattie an example for others to live a well-balanced life of integrity.  Mattie freely gives to others the wisdom and knowledge God has given to her to be an effective vessel of honor in the Body of Christ.
