How often do you wonder about your destiny?  How determined are you to reach it?  Although everyone's personal destiny is unique, what is the distinction between you and another? What makes you, who you are?  Well, we are going to try to help you in your personal quest of answering these questions by introducing you to our phenomenal featured preaching woman for the month in June.  Pastor Dionne Wood has graciously accepted our invitation to be featured on our site and offer sound guidance as to how we all can answer these questions and pursue our destiny with focused determination and holy distinction!

Acclaimed as one of the Kingdom's best kept secrets, Pastor Dionne S. Wood is the CEO and president of DSW Ministries. Poised as a beautiful, confident, and wise woman of God, Pastor Dionne is on a mission to offer Christ to a generation seeking an answer regarding their destiny and purpose in the kingdom.  As an exceptional woman of destiny, extraordinary determination, and exquisite distinction, Pastor Dionne's course was set from the beginning.  Widely known as a powerful and impactful evangelist who has traveled across the United States preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, Pastor Dionne hails from a strong lineage of great preachers, prophets, and pastors.   And, after careful meditation and listening to the Lord, coupled with great personal sacrifice, Pastor Dionne recently accepted God's call to the pastorate, responding with a fervent "yes!"

A didactic expositor and prophetic intercessor, God has assigned Pastor Dionne to bring a fresh, relevant, and timely word to His people presented in a way that will both enlighten and challenge all who hear.  Her approach reflects her sensitivity to the needs of God's people. As many women have experienced the call of God to shift from the evangelistic field to the pastorate, PreachingWoman.com asked Pastor Dionne to share with us her transition and God's mandate for her ministry and here is what she had to say.

"I believe God is calling the body of Christ as a whole to a place of 'Doing Church Differently.'  God has called me and countless others back to the way of straight; which is holiness (separated unto God). Through the pastorate, my mandate is to utilize the Word of God through preaching, teaching, and mentoring to help usher people into their destiny and teach them to be dependent upon God for themselves," said Pastor Dionne.

Destiny is a word that has become increasingly common within the body of Christ over the last several decades. From a kingdom perspective it is defined as "that which is firmly established by God." So, we asked Pastor Dionne what advice would she offer to those who desire to walk into all that God has established for their personal lives and she candidly responded with these three points:

1.) "We must confront the ignorance of this present age, and we do that through the following:

  • Avoid misinterpreting the Word of God
  • Avoid misapplying the Word of God
  • Avoid misappropriating the Word of God

Everything that God has established is based upon the His Word, so having a firm knowledge of the Word of God is key," Pastor Dionne explained.

2.)  "We must have good character.  Character is the single most important thing, it's more important than:

  • Connections
  • Pedigree
  • Training

As you focus on yourself, in terms of letting God make you again into another vessel, yielding totally to him, with that comes the calling, gifting, and determination to pursue destiny," Pastor Dionne stated.

3.)  "We must strive toward impeccable integrity. Integrity affects every area of your life. Integrity helps keep the spirit of entitlement at bay.  We develop our integrity through our relationship with Jesus Christ; the one you love, you don't want to offend," said Pastor Dionne.

Additionally, Pastor Dionne says that often times if we are not careful, we can become so overly concerned with destiny that we will over look the real issue, which is dealing with the things within us that cause us to be ineffective. Accordingly, she says one of the consequences of ineffectiveness is compromise.  So, we asked her to share with us, what she believes are some of the symptoms of compromise and here is what she told us.

"Some of the symptoms of compromise include:

  • Loss of Conviction
  • Loss of Effectiveness
  • Loss of Standards

God wants us to be holy, full of integrity and honor.  The standard must be held up. Compromise will weaken and destroy your spiritual immune systems, which will cause you to be insensitive to the courses leading to your manifested destiny," said Pastor Dionne.

Combining her passion for ministry with her skill as an administrator, Pastor Dionne is also the founder of the Daughters of Destiny Leadership Institute, a mentoring and training center for young women. Additionally, Pastor Wood is also an accomplished author, writing and contributing to such works as, Behold, the Dreamer Cometh, Good Enough: Discovering Your Purpose in the Kingdom, and A Drink From The Well: Refreshment For The Soul. PreachingWoman.com asked Pastor Dionne how she finds the determination to do all that she does while continuing to walk out her own personal destiny, and she positively answered saying:

"Determination is rooted from accepting what God has predetermined or chosen for you.  I have accepted that I have purpose, and I am determined to meet God's expectations and standards of me. Because God lives in me, everything I need is in me because of Him, for on my own I am not qualified," explained Pastor Dionne. "I've learned to be very focused, and I try not to become a victim of my own decisions," she added.

Pastor Dionne serves under the covering of the Next Dimension Covenant Churches Worldwide, where Apostle Stanley J. Gorrell is the overseer. In July of 2008, she will be ordained and installed as the Senior Pastor of Beth`El Tabernacle in Temple Hills, MD. As an outreach of the ministry, Pastor Dionne hosts a monthly Sunday Night Live (SNL) service, which is open for the all to come and experience the matchless power of the living God, through praise, worship, preaching, and the prophetic. We asked Pastor Dionne what makes her ministry distinct from others and what encouragement can she offer us regarding the mark of distinction and she had this to offer:

"When you yield over to God, you are not going to be the you that you thought you were going to be. God has called us all to be a peculiar people.  Peculiar is another word for holy; we are called to be separate and not inclusive.  God knows them that are His. He has sealed us in Him.  Therefore, His mark of distinction is something that separates you completely from everyone else.  One of the things that make my ministry distinct from others is that I am being who God has called me to be. So I would encourage people that in order to wear a mark of distinction, we must love one another, know that we are in the world and not of it, and we must stay focused on the things that are eternal," Pastor Dionne concluded.

Pastor Dionne S. Wood is a shining example of someone who is "living life in 3-D! ---a life marked by destiny, determination, and distinction.  As the loving mother of three wonderful children: DeVon, Dorian, and Dominique, Pastor Dionne resides in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. In closing, we asked Pastor Dionne what is her greatest passion in ministry and she simply said, "I am passionate about loving people."
