Seeing the Salvation of the Lord In Sitting Still!
Ruth 3:18
Sometimes it seems that the clock has become our opponent as it races with its two hands and no feet to get to the finish line before we can get out of the front door. We work untiringly to obtain that sense of accomplishment, relief and satisfaction of completing our assignments in a timely manner.
As daughters we are expected to create passageways, resolve conflicts and still await the occurrence of our personal miracles. In the midst of the inner noise of anxiety conflicting with the faith walk of destiny, there arises the Word:
"Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" Psalm 46:10
· "How can I sit still?"
· "It is foolish to wait!"
· "What will they think of me if I don't meet this deadline?"
· "I might "lose" my blessing and somebody else will take it!"
· "I will appear incompetent!"
· "I'm too old to wait!"
· "I'll never have this opportunity again!"
· "With my looks, education and abilities He might need my help!"
· "A sitting duck is a dead duck in the eyes of an aggressive hunter!"
· "The clock is a-ticking and I'm a-kicking out of here!"
Hold your horses, daughters! The ripe time is the right time. If you move ahead of the Master and His divine plan you will risk interfering with the fullness of time. When our Father tells us to wait or sit still it's because He wants to show you His power and workmanship in the situation. In return He gets the glory and accreditation for His mighty acts and you will see your purpose and promises come to pass.
He wants to fight for you. He wants to take it from this point, allow you to rest momentarily as He takes care of the matter.
The wisdom of Naomi to instruct Ruth to "sit still" until she knew how an important matter regarding their inheritance would turn out brought about a heavenly perspective to an earthly situation. Naomi concluded by saying "for the man will not rest until he has concluded the matter this day."
While Ruth is waiting in the shadow for a moment, the man, Boaz, was actively negotiating and buying back the family land. God turned defeat into redemption through the role of Boaz as the chosen kinsman-redeemer. Boaz later married Ruth and preserved the name of Naomi's deceased husband's lineage.
Boaz is an Old Testament type of Jesus Christ and His redeeming love for us. It is wonderful to know that Christ has purchased us with His blood and has redeemed us in His eternal inheritance!
This only informs me that the Great Negotiator is working matters out for us while we sit still and see His salvation. After He is done, we should be ready and refreshed enough to minister to Him with all of our love!
At the end of a day it is relevant that we rest, pray and renew ourselves so we can become better worshippers unto our Lord! He deserves the rich anointing of our love and adoration without worry or care.
"Lord, help me to see through eyes of faith.
Help me to touch with hands of grace.
Help me to love with a heart of compassion.
Help me to wait when there is no action.
Teach me to stand when I want to sit.
Teach me to continue when I want to quit.
Teach me to move when I want to stay.
Teach me to remain and not walk away.
Show me your ways when the path is dark.
Show me your grace when forgiveness is sought.
Show me what to do and I will apply
The redeeming love as seen from Your eyes."
