Don’t Just Dream It. Do It!
By
“Your reality can never exceed your mentality.” –
Your present level of living is a direct reflection of your present level of thinking. Never forget that. Once you shift your paradigm, then things will turn on a dime. And before you know it, you’ll be living the life you’ve always dreamed of!
You may be thinking, “It’s not that simple.” Oh, but I beg to differ. With the success of Empowering Everyday Women Online Magazine (www.eewmagazine.com), which had been a long-time dream of mine, I now know what’s possible. For a long time, I had a deep desire to create an outlet for African American Christian women to express their creative ideas and gain more visibility. However, I initially talked myself out of it. After all, I wasn’t so sure it would work.
So, let me ask you; how many times have you doubted something God implanted in you? How many dreams have you let die because you failed to trust Him and yourself? How many seasons have you allowed to pass by, because you’ve been too afraid to pursue your passion? Certainly, unfamiliar territory and new ventures are intimidating for us all, but if you get out there and go after your dream, you’ll be surprised by the results.
For example, when I first started my journey toward making EEW Magazine a reality, I wasn’t sure that major advertisers, progressive leaders, and internationally-acclaimed authors would support my dream. And yet, they did! Now, with constant streams of women logging on to our site, highly respected writers submitting content, and advertisers utilizing eewmagazine.com to generate publicity, I know with a surety, I made the right choice.
But here’s the catch 22. You’ll never get to see the conclusion of the matter if you don’t start somewhere. Only God knows the end from the beginning. You and I don’t. We can only take steps toward our dreams and trust God to order those steps.
As I travel abroad to minister to women in ministry and business, I often encourage them to enlarge their visions for their lives, whatever they may be. Whether the dream involves: Starting a business, launching a ministry, or writing a book; it’s never too late. So, today, I’m sharing the same admonition with you. I want you to cast off worry, lose the defeatist mentality, take a risk and jump in with both feet! Don’t spend your whole life talking about what you want to do someday. Rather, utilize your God-given abilities, resources, and connections to bring your vision to fruition. Don’t just talk about it, be about it. Don’t just dream it, do it!
And when you finally launch out you’ll be amazed at the outcome. After all, I certainly am.
